Damned If You Do, Damned If You Don't!

Years ago I was habitually making choices that led to not feeling great in my body. I knew I could do better, but I also wasn’t feeling like I wanted to expend energy making needed changes (feeling empowered to make changes is hard when the outcome of your choices is low energy and poor sleep). Then I had a realization that changed everything: either way takes effort.

Feeling tired all the time but still having to do ALL the things takes effort.

Showing up for your loved ones when you’re feeling cranky because you just beat yourself up by eating an entire pint of Jeni’s ice cream takes effort.

Dealing with disappointment because you never got around to making progress on any of your health goals takes effort.

Managing resentment because you wanted to move your body but let other things take priority takes effort.

So, if either way takes effort, DOESN’T IT MAKE MORE SENSE TO EXPEND THAT EFFORT TOWARD A POSITIVE OUTCOME?

Just a tiny goal that only takes a tiny amount of effort can be the catalyst for impactful, lasting, positive change that generates a surplus of energy, rather than drains you. Think about it. And then decide for yourself how you want to spend your energy.
